This thesis is divided into the theoretical and the practical part. The theoretical part consists of the basic terms used for the description of the refraction of the eye and includes synopsis of the models of the eye. This continues with the description and characterization of the refractive defects and states of the eye, where the special emphasis on astigmatism of the eye itself, is placed. In the final chapter of the theoretical part, you will find the description of objective and subjective methods of measurement of astigmatism.
