Cílem práce bylo zjistit, do jaké míry podpora autonomie v univerzitním prostředí, jmenovitě v kurzu English Autonomously (EA), ovlivňuje u studentů jejich používání strategií učení se jazykům a jejich metakognitivní povědomí. <P> Jako teoretický rámec pro uchopení autonomie používám konstruktivismus, sebe-determinační teorii a andragogické teorie učení. Z konstruktivismu vychází výzkumy v oblasti jazykového vzdělávání, které pracují s autonomií (Little, 2007, Benson , 1997) a reflektují v poslední době i sociální dimenzi konstruktivismu (Vygotsky, 1978, O´Leary, 2018). Pro sebe-determinační teorii (Deci a Ryan, 2002) je autonomie základním pojmem, který spolu s kompetencí a náležením k někomu tvoří tři vrozené potřeby člověka. The aim of the study was to find out to what extent the support of autonomy in the university context, namely the English Autonomously (EA) course, influences students´ use of language learning strategies and their metacognitive awareness. <P> I use constructivism, self-determination theory and andragogical theories of learning as a theoretical framework for understanding autonomy. Constructivism is the basis for the research in the field of language education which works with autonomy (Little, 2007, Benson, 1997) and has recently reflected the social dimension of constructivism (Vygotsky, 1978, O'Leary, 2018). For self-determination theory (Deci and Ryan, 2002), autonomy is a basic concept which, together with competence and belonging compounds the three innate needs of individuals.
