Petiška chápe biblické příběhy jako součást starověkého písemnictví, významné mýty, nikoliv jako náboženské texty. Neuvádí proto starozákonní příběhy jako samostatné dílo, nýbrž v rámci souboru v konfrontaci tradovaných dějů tří významných civilizací - Egypta, Mezopotámie a Izraele. Práce obsahuje dvě základní části - teoretickou a analytickou. V teoretické části jsou uvedena materiálová a teoretická východiska disertace. Dále je zde představen Eduard Petiška jakožto autor děl pro mladé čtenáře. Následující kapitola pojednává o adaptacích biblických příběhů pro děti a mládež z hlediska teoretického a literárněhistorického. This thesis is centred on Eduard Petiška´s work Sun shined stories (1967), especially its third part Ancient Israeli Myths and legends. Petiška considers biblical stories as a part of ancient literature and important myths, not as religious texts. Consequently, he does not present biblical stories as a separate work but he thinks of them as a collection in confrontation with transmitted processes of three significant civilisations - Egypt, Mesopotamia and Israel. The thesis contains of two essential parts - theoretical and analytical. Material and theoretical dissertation solutions are introduced in the theoretical part. Further, Eduard Petiška is presented there as a youth-literature author.
