S jeho jménem je rovněž spjat vznik a úspěšná činnost první technické vysoké školy na světě, École Polytechnique (Paříž, 1795). Podle vzoru pařížské techniky vznikaly další technické vysoké školy, na kterých se deskriptivní geometrie během druhé poloviny 19. století stala jedním z nejdůležitějších předmětů. Cílem disertační práce je zmapovat vývoj výuky deskriptivní geometrie na českých vysokých školách, a to nejen technikách, ale i univerzitách. V práci se omezíme se pouze na klasickou deskriptivní geometrii, tzn. nebudeme se zabývat předměty příbuznými, například diferenciální či analytickou geometrií. The foundation stone of the scientific discipline was laid down by a French geometer Gaspard Monge in his work Géométrie descriptive (1799). Foundation and successful operation of the first technical university in the world, École Polytechnique (Paris, 1795), is also connected with his name. Following the model of the Paris polytechnic, several other technical universities were established during the second half of the 19th century. Descriptive geometry became one of the most important subjects there. The aim of this thesis is to map the development of teaching descriptive geometry at Czech universities: both at common universities and at technical universities. The work will be aimed on the traditional descriptive geometry only; this means we will not study related subjects such as differential and analytic geometry.
