| Shrnutí: | V projekte sa zaoberám subjektivitou a jej dopadom na vonkajšiu formu prozaických diel To the Lighthouse (1927) a The Waves (1931) od Virginie Woolf a The Bell Jar (1963) od Sylvie Plath. Snažím sa zadefinovať tento pojem napriek rozličným prístupom v iných odvetvich a poukázať na jeho prítomnosť v textoch oboch autoriek. Venujem sa aj pojmom ako identita, transformácia identity, dvojitá identita, subjekt a snažím sa ich zrekonštruovať pomocou primárneho (najmä esejistického) textového materiálu Virginie Woolf, ktorý sa síce čiastočne prelína s modernistickými tendenciami, ale zároveň ponúka, podľa môjho názoru, jedinečné definície v tejto oblasti. Túto „filozofiu“ Virginie Woolf následne aplikujem na tvorbu Sylvia Plath, za predpokladu, že tieto literárne postupy su univerzálne a majú predpoklad byť aplikované na ďalšie diela. Zaoberám sa dielami oboch autoriek, ako sú ⎯ To the Lighthouse (K majáku) a The Waves (Vlny), The Bell Jar, ktoré považujem za vrchol ich tvorivého snaženia. T In this dissertation, I focus on the subjectivity and its form of representation in the prose works of Virginia Woolf and Sylvia Plath, namely To the Lighthouse (1927), The Waves (1931) and The Bell Jar (1963). I try to define this concept in spite of varying approaches in different fields and consider its presence significant in the texts of both authors. I also deal with the terms such as identity, identity transformation, double and multiple identity, and try to redefine them using Virginia Woolf's essays, which even though overlap with modernist tendencies, offer, in my opinion, unique definitions of the subject. This "philosophy" of Virginia Woolf is then applied on writings of Sylvia Plath, assuming the universality of these literary devices and the possibility of its application on other texts.
