The work is primarily focused on the description of allomorphy and the description of Estonian and Finnish morphology in terms of cognitive grammar. Its aim is also to provide a unified account of both forms and meanings using concepts of cognitive grammar. In this respect it relies on works by Ronald W. Langacker. Concepts concerning categorization and distribution in particular are used in the description of allomorphy.
