Shrnutí: | Bakalářská práce pojednává o asimilaci hispánských imigrantů v USA. The thesis deals with the assimilation of post-1960 Latino immigrants into the US. It is divided into 3 main chapters. The first chapter is devoted to the acquisition of English, Spanish in the US and bilingualism. The second chapter focuses on the large Latino community and their effect and behaviors in society including social systems, school, wages, education, electorate, and discrimination. Finally, the last chapter highlights obstacles towards "full" assimilation including hindrances in terms of geographical proximity, easier communication, citizenship, spatial concentration, and occupation. In totality, the thesis demonstrates why Latinos are a different group of immigrants faced with new challenges compared to others in American history. |
