| Shrnutí: | In my paper “State and Governance in Regional Cultural Context” I seek to explore the relationship between the institution of state and its functioning in particular regional context. The institution of state is defined on the basis of functions of governance, organization, administration, regulation and orientation of societies. On the basis of critical observation of how the state works in the region of Southern Africa, I will evaluate the success or failure of the institution in specific historical, economic and socio-cultural context and I will examine different explanations of the situation as presented by different scholars. Particular attention will be paid to the relationship between a successful performance of the state and economy, examining why the states in Southern Africa fail to fulfil their functions, according to politicians, economists and scholars worldwide. |
