Shrnutí:The study examines the way how Ishmael Reed rewrites the trope of the trickster in the course of his three books chosen for this study: "Yellow Back Radio Broke-Down", "Mumbo Jumbo", and "The Terrible Twos." The study consists of two parts: of a literary part, discussing Reed’s rewriting of the trickster trope and of a theoretical part in which the opinions on the phenomenon of the trickster of Carl Gustav Jung, Claude Lévi-Strauss and Joseph Campbell are interpreted.
