| Shrnutí: | The thesis focuses on the village and its inhabitants as portrayed in the detective stories by Agatha Christie. It is based on analysis of eight novels written at two different periods of the writer’s career. The author has often been criticised for having created village settings that are sealed from the outside world and characters that are based on stereotypes. The present work attempts to demonstrate whether these assumptions are well-founded or not. To provide a study of the village and its figures, the thesis is divided into eight chapters, each dedicated to the respective characters. |
