| Summary: | Elektrokonvulzivní terapie (ECT) je efektivní psychiatrická léčebná metoda, která je současně jedním z nejvíce kontroverzních a stigmatizovaných terapeutických přístupů v medicíně. Cílem disertační práce je vyhodnotit vnímání a postavení ECT v současné psychiatrii. Disertační práce kombinuje tři metodologické přístupy: kritické studium relevantní odborné literatury, analýzu a komparaci kazuistik a kvantitativní výzkum. Kazuistiky se zabývají problematikou aplikace ECT u dětí a adolescentů, u pacientů, kteří prodělali traumatické poranění mozku a otázkou možnosti aplikace ECT u pacientů s významně narušenou schopností realizovat svoji autonomii v důsledku závažné duševní poruchy a souvisejícími právními regulacemi. Kvantitativní výzkum je zaměřen na vyhodnocení znalostí a postojů týkajících se ECT ve skupině studentů medicíny a pacientů léčících se s depresivní či bipolární afektivní poruchou, kteří podstoupili či nepodstoupili ECT. Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is an efficient psychiatric treatment method that is one of the most controversial and the most stigmatised therapeutic approaches in medicine. The aim of the dissertation is to evaluate perception and status of ECT in contemporary psychiatry. The dissertation combines three methodological approaches: a critical study of relevant professional literature, analysis of case reports and quantitative research. Case reports deal with issues of ECT application in children and adolescents, in patients with traumatic brain injury and in patients with significantly impaired ability to realise their autonomy due to severe mental disorder and related legal regulations. Quantitative research focuses on the evaluation of knowledge about and attitudes to ECT in a group of medical students and patients treated with depressive or bipolar affective disorder. The results can be summarized as follows: ECT is an effective and safe method indicated for the treatment. |
